Hot on Instagram this AM: Warner Bros’ new Tom Cruise movie directed by Oscar winner Alejandro González Iñárritu has been titled Digger and it will hit theaters on Oct. 2, 2026 — that’s the prized frame where Warner Bros/DC’s Joker bowed.
The tag line for the pic on the poster is “a comedy of catastrophic proportions”. There was buzz out there that the movie was about the most powerful global figure who tries to convince everyone he’s a savior.
Iñárritu told us at Cannes in response to that, “No, the thing that I can tell you. This is a wild comedy of catastrophic proportions. It’s insane. He makes me laugh every day. The range that I discovered working with Tom is unprecedented for me as a director. I was so fu*king impressed and happy.”
The teaser shows Cruise in cowboy boots dancing with a shovel in what looks to be a Los Angeles type of low-rent apartment, as well as on a pier.
Also opening on Oct. 2 next year is Amazon MGM Studios Verity, the feature take of the Colleen Hoover novel starring Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway, directed by Michael Showalter.
